In July 1945, two young brothers P.P Chhabria and K.P Chhabria came to Pune from Karachi in search of a livelihood and within six months set up a small shop selling electrical cables. The retail business became quite successful. A sizeable order in the mid 1950's from the Defence Department for wire harnesses for trucks and tanks bolstered their confidence and they decided to manufacture Cables, themselves.

What's new Finolex Cables Ltd. is the first Indian Company to manufacture the Trunk & Distribution CATV range of cables. These cables are manufactured at its most modern facility at Goa. The range includes Trunk 412, 500, 540, and 715 cables. The inner conductor is made of copper clad aluminum and the dielectric consists of Nitrogen gas injected physical foam manufactured by using imported polyethylene. The outer conductor is made of robust aluminum alloy tube providing 100% shielding enhancing performance and distortion-free transmission of signals. UV and abrasion resistant outer jacket of PVC ensures long life and optimum performance. With these range of cables also in its stable Finolex now has the complete range of internet-ready Coaxial and CATV cables, Jelly filled telephone cables and Optical Fiber cables which form the core of telecommunications cables.
